Over the way, at the Etihad Stadium, speculation is rife that Manchester City and their manager, Manuel Pellegrini, will soon be uncoupled.

City`s failure to retain the Premier League whilst also ending their season without a trophy, could result in Pellegrini being axed by his superiors.

Recently, numerous column inches have been generated, by various media vehicles, suggesting that Manchester City will do their utmost to entice the Bayern Munich boss, Pep Guardiola, to the Etihad Stadium.

However, City may be in for a rude awakening!

As well as the distinct possibility emerging relating to Guardiola staying on at the Allianz Arena, the local newspaper, the Manchester Evening News, has thrown the following into the mixer.

It`s intimating that Guardiola, if he were to leave the Bavarian giants, would assess what the chances would be of taking over the helm at Old Trafford before agreeing to take any vacant Manchester City managerial job.
