You just knew it was going to be a point that would be debated long into the night the very moment Chris Foy raised the red card and sent Vincent Kompany on that long walk of solitude.

After the game, Roberto Mancini wasted no chance in pointing an accusing finger at our very own Wayne Rooney, commenting,

“It was not a red card. Rooney told him his decision. This type of tackle happened with Rio Ferdinand and other United defenders many times.”

“The red card for Vinnie? No, it`s impossible. But I don`t want to talk about the referee because I want to stay on the bench for the next game.”

Every person has his view!

Then again, Sir Alex Ferguson saw it in an entirely different light, remarking,

“The referee was right on that one. I have seen him do it before and he has got away with it before.”

“If there had been contact with Nani then it would have been a bad one. He is lucky he didn`t make contact.”

“The intention was there. It was a two-footed tackle off the ground – it was a red card.”

Like I said, it`ll be a long debate!
