Manchester United are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup but they should not take an appearance in the final for granted, according to Ryan Giggs.

The Reds beat Middlesbrough 1-0 on Monday to reach the last 4 where Watford will be the last obstacle in their bid to reach the final played in the new Wembley for the first time. Vice-skipper Ryan Giggs warned everyone that Boothroyd’s men must not be taken lightly.

‘We are going to be massive favourites but we are not in the final yet,’ he said.

‘We have a great chance and I am really pleased to get to the semi-final again. We enjoy going down to Villa Park and now we can look forward to that.

‘We are not going to be over-confident because we have a tough game to overcome against Watford but, hopefully, we can get there to Wembley.

‘We are still fighting on three fronts. We can go away to our internationals this week knowing that we’re in a good position in three competitions and that is what we want at this stage of the season.’

Last time we lost at Villa Park? It must have been in 1995, the famous game provoked Alan Hansen’s now legendary comment. So statistics, history and pure class are all on our side but I agree with Giggs: our great position means our eventual fall would be even greater…
