Interesting Facts

1 – Martial transferred to Manchester United on 1st September 2015 (Transfer Deadline Day) for a fee of £36 million.

2 – On 4th August 2015, Martial scored his first goal in an international game against BSC Young Boys, a game that Monaco won 4-0.

3 – Martial played all 5 games that took place for the France under-19 squad at the 2013 European Championship, with France finishing runners-up to Serbia.

4 – Martial was called up to the French national senior team for the first time in August 2015, playing in friendlies against Portugal and Serbia.

5 – He scored his first goal for a principality club in 2013, in the first game he started for when playing for AS Monaco.

    The key points that are looked over are:

    – Lyon fans petitioned for the club not to sell him when they were cash strapped

    – He scored more goals than any other teenager in Europes top leagues last season

    – He’s caught the eye of numerous top clubs around Europe (Barcelona, Chelsea, Tottenham and Valencia being the main examples)

    Fact is we need pace up front, movement and someone who can take players on and Martial provides all of that. He’s young so inconsistency is going to be expected but he can’t really do any worse than Rooney and there’s no expectation on him to be an immediate leading star in the side. However, no-one in the UK has heard of him so therefore he’s evidently immediately no good… *sigh*
