Ever since the class of 92 emerged, it would appear that the quest for first team talent has resulted in the cash being splashed.

The class of 92 have long since gone and the quest for instant success seems to dictate that the top clubs tend to purchase ready-made stars rather than groom them.

But it seems Manchester United might be about to buck the trend with it being announced that Manchester United, having given a trial to the player, are taking a virtual unknown on their pre-season tour to America.

Twenty-one year oldSam Grimshaw was, just recently, on the books of the non-league side Glossop, but it seems the left-sided player impressed so much on his trial he has been given a wonderful opportunity on the pre-season tour of the US.

Let`s hope this happy story has an even happier ending.
