Somebody who spent eleven years with Manchester United has grabbed himself a managerial post.

Rene Meulensteen was a popular figure at Old Trafford, the Dutchman utilised his coaching skills to assist Sir Alex Ferguson during our glory years, with some describing him as the quiet man behind the scenes who planted the seeds of success.

After leaving Old Trafford, Meulensteen has had several managerial roles but hasn`t enjoyed the success he probably deserves.

In England, Meulensteen took charge of Fulham Football Club but his knowledge and drive was unable to half the downward spiral the West London club have been on for the last two to three years.

However, fortune has favoured the brave and it has been confirmed that Meulensteen, now fifty-two years of age, has been appointed as the new manager of the Israeli side Maccabi Haifa.

Here at Vital Manchester United we`d like to wish Rene all the best in his new position and we hope his time in Israel is successful.
