Just down the East Lancashire Road, things are not going well for a club we have done quite a bit of transfer business over the years.

Everton Football Club, who spent heavily last summer after selling Romelu Lukaku to us, are struggling in the Premier League.

Even having Wayne Rooney back amongst their ranks hasn`t seen the drive up to towards the upper echelons of the Premier League they`d hoped for.

Instead, the axe fell on their Dutch manager, Ronald Koeman, with the club looking to bring in a replacement.

Today, it would seem, according to the Liverpool Echo, they were perhaps considering approaching a former Manchester United boss who is, as they say, between jobs.

But it seems that former manager, Louis van Gaal, isn`t interested in taking up the challenge and has ruled himself out of the running.
