Darren Fletcher holds no grudges and he’s moved on from the bitter disappointment of missing the Champions League final in Moscow – Owen Hargreaves was ahead of him in the pecking order – and in Rome when he was suspended after a very harsh sending-off.

‘Playing in a Champions League final is definitely something I want to do,’ he said.

‘Every player wants the opportunity to do that and I know all the lads are desperate to get back there for a third year in a row.

‘I was really disappointed to miss out last year.

‘But I don`t hold any grudges about it, I`m just determined to get back there and help the team lift the trophy again.’

And he deserves one as he played a very, very important part in getting us to Rome last season but he could not enjoy the fruits of his labour. So the others owe him a big performance, to grant him the chance of finally appearing in a CL final. Bayern Munich are beatable and we are capable of beating them. And we have to do so, not just for the sake of the season but for the sake of Fletch.
