If anyone doubted the implications of an early exit from the Champions League, in a financial sense, then read on.

Figures released show that following on from our early Champions League exit and also our early exit form the FA Cup, United`s revenue streams were affected in the following way.

A total of £24 million was lost compared to the previous season, a loss that saw match day revenue plummet from £109.7 million to £98.7 million whilst Broadcast revenue fell from £117.3 million to £104 million.

However, there was one bright spot with Commercial revenue showing an increase, rising
£14 million to £117.6 million, thereby, if the figures we`ve been provided with are correct, giving United a £23 million profit after tax, or just about enough for one world class player!
