United supporters, as we start to look towards this weekends` fixture at White Hart Lane; will be hoping that Wayne Rooney will have recovered from his recent throat infection to play a part.

Rooney has missed the last two games but remains an integral part of Sir Alex Ferguson`s plans to hang onto the Premier League title and see off the challenge of Manchester City.

Rooney, more than willing to take up most challenges, has given the media a few comments that infer United are not prepared to let City brush United aside and that the famous United fighting spirit is coming to the fore, commenting about a recent fixture that entertained the nation,

“Everyone watching the game would have seen that we`re not just going to lie down – we`ll be fighting until the very end.”

“When you`re 3-0 down it would be easy to just play the rest of the game and accept defeat.”

No prizes for guessing what game Rooney is referring to!
