After all the controversy of their midweek Champions League loss to Bayern Munich, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has found an unlikely ally over his reaction to the Carlos Tevez incident from City’s main title and local rivals United, after Sir Alex Ferguson said he admired the handling of the situation by the Italian.

Tevez has been suspended for up to 2 weeks having allegedly refused to come on at the Allianz Arena and was further criticised by his former manager at Old Trafford, where he left to cross the city divide two years ago.

The United manager believes Mancini’s frankness with the situation is to be admired, and shows a strength to his management by deciding to cut the Argentine off from the main squad.

Meanwhile United will look to bounce back from dropping their first points of the season last week when they welcome Premier League newcomers Norwich City to Theatre of Dreams, still missing Wayne Rooney.
