Sir Alex promised that there will be no tame surrender from United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday; no meek acceptance of defeat like at Anfield. He’s signing the right songs but does anyone seriously believe we can get a result at Chelsea?

‘It’s always a hard game at Chelsea, but we’ll deal with it better than we did at Anfield, I’m sure of that,’ he said.

‘They’re shaping up to be the main challengers. It seems they’ll be the ones to get in front of.’

Yes, they’re bang in form, scoring for fun, especially at home while we’ll be without one of our centre-backs and without our main creative influence, the 36-year-old Ryan Giggs. That he’s the most creative player of the season speaks volumes of our current form… I hope we’ll get away with a creditable two-goal defeat and it won’t turn into a massacre.
