It seems that Sir Alex himself sees that the current squad is not good enough for a major assault on the three important fronts: he’s considering strengthening in January, something he ruled out in the previous two seasons (Ljajic and Tosic were secured early but they could hardly be called significant reinforcements).

‘I’d like to do business but only if the price is right – and that can be a problem in January,’ said the boss when reporters prompted him to talk about his transfer plans in light of the recent speculation about possible moves for Edin Dzeko and Carlton Cole.

He did not elaborate on which positions he wants to strengthen and though we’re heavily tipped to buy another centre forward, what we actually need most is a proper, classy wide man, at least in my opinion. Nani does not look like to have much of a future, especially after his public account of dressing room events which contained little news for most of us but you can bet Fergie did not like it.

So, we’ll see. I’m reassured by Sir Alex’s claim that he wants to do business which means he’s not blind to the squad’s shortcomings – he’s merely waiting for the right player(s). If the price isn’t deemed reasonable I’ll be happy to wait until summer and sacrifice this season. What about you?
