Sir Alex Ferguson says Chelsea defence leads the way in the Premiership.

Jose Mourinho’s side notched up their 15th clean sheet of the season in a single-goal triumph over Wigan, and Ferguson struggles to make United a credible threat to Chelsea.

Ferguson: ‘We have conceded in the first 10 minutes in four home games now. It is happening too many times and that is not a great recipe for winning football matches, particularly after the result we got last Wednesday.

‘I know Chelsea win a lot of games 1-0 but you have to give a lot of credit to them for their defensive qualities. We are all jealous of it.

‘The margin for error is getting less. Everyone is saying they hope Chelsea drop points. We are no different from Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham in that respect.

‘You have to take your chances at home. Maybe my players know what the phrase means now. If we get in front at Old Trafford not many teams beat us. All that matters now is winning football matches. I don’t care if we scramble a goal in or if it goes in off someone’s backside. If we can get on a roll we can still be a great threat.’
