It’s seems like only yesterday United were lifting the Champions League trophy after a nerve wracking penalty shoot out. But 3 months have passed and it’s all to do again now, with Newcastle United providing the first opposition at Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson refused to update the media on his moves to acquire Dimitar Berbatov, but did take great pleasure in announcing Wayne Rooney had recovered from his virus fully and was available for selection.

He also responded to comments earlier in the week from Chelsea captain John Terry, who believed United don’t have the mentality to improve on last year.
