Manchester United go in to their first home group game in the Champions League without Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez, after they were ruled out through injury.

Rooney missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Stoke after picking up a hamstring problem in training, whilst Hernandez was subbed off in the first 10 minutes of the game having gotten injured from an early clash with Stoke’s Jonathan Woodgate.

Despite having his first choice partnership out, Sir Alex Ferguson remains confident. The Man Utd manager says players like Dimitar Berbatov have a big part to play and expects the Bulgarian to step up to the plate and rediscover last season’s form.

Meanwhile, Sir Alex has given his reaction to reports that fierce rivals City will lay a wreath ahead of their Champions League match at Bayern Munich, commemorating the 1958 Munich Air Disaster where eight United players died.
