FA Cup – United v Brighton – Managerial Chit-Chat

|

Manchester United go head-to-head with Brighton in an FA Cup quarter-final tie this Saturday evening.

Yesterday, both managers held their pre-match press conferences.

Jose Mourinho`s will go down in the record books as one of his most entertaining since he took over the managerial hot-seat, at Old Trafford.

After the Champions League exit, at the hands of Sevilla, Jose didn`t mince his words and after shooting down the first question from the media, went on a twelve-minute monologue with everybody hanging on to his every word.

Jose seemed determined to get his point across and vehemently defended his side after their midweek Champions League exit, commenting, amongst other things,

‘Every match is important.

‘We train very well, always. We train always very, very well, so we don’t need a reaction to train better than we do because the training, the professionalism, the enthusiasm, the organisation, every training session with us since day one, since I arrived, the players have been absolutely brilliant.’

Some got the impression that Jose looked riled, personally I thought he looked focus and ready for action.

As for the Brighton manager, Chris Hughton his pre-match press conference was far more reserved with the Brighton boss, commenting amongst other things,

‘What we all know about Manchester United is they have huge quality, and are only second in this division because Manchester City are having an outstanding season. They are going to have days that are not so good, and we’ll have to make sure that we play well enough to get a result.

‘To go through would be wonderful for this club. It’s a big task and United will be clear favourites. What we can get confidence from is that on our last visit to Old Trafford we played very well.’

United will win this tie but I, like so many others, can`t wait for Jose`s post-match interview!
