The benefit of ex-United coach Steve McClaren being installed as the new England manager is that we won’t have to face him again!

McClaren is odds on to be installed as the new England manager – which is expected to be later this week – and Ferguson’s former assistant has an uncanny knack of taking points off United. He has added another four to his tally this season, an added bonus from a busy schedule which is at least keeping McClaren’s mind occupied.

McClaren: ‘I cannot focus on anything else just now than our next game.

‘The FA have gone through their process. Everyone has adhered to it. Now we are just waiting for whatever decision they wish to make.’
