According to the Man United website, Paul Ince says that his players have stepped up the intensity in training as he admits that his players are doing everything they can to be in his starting line-up for the game against Manchester United at Old Trafford [via Man Utd].

The game against United will provide extra motivation for the Reading players because it is not often that they get an opportunity to play at such an iconic stadium, so it is not surprising to hear that the players are stepping up their intensity levels up a notch as they will all be desperate to play, and this is what Ince said to the media ahead of the game.

“I always felt this was a bit of a distraction. Our priority is to stay in this league and it has not been easy. Training has been great this week and everybody has been running about like they have never before, so choosing an XI won’t be easy” [via Man Utd].

He admits because of this, it will make his team selection difficult, however, he says that if his team put in a strong showing at Old Trafford, then it will help them in their next Championship fixture.

“Any performance will help us going into the Watford game [in the Championship]” [via Man Utd].

Ince, who played for United in the 1990, says that his team will be dangerous proposition from dead ball situations, so United will have to be aware of their aerial threat when defending corners or free-kicks.

“We’re always a threat from set-pieces,” warned Ince. “Cup games are different, you raise your game 20 or 30 per cent and you’re hoping every player who plays raises their standard. That’s how you get giant-killings” [via Man Utd].

The game between United and Reading gets underway at 8pm UK time on Saturday night, and it will be shown live on ITV Sport.
