By no means is Ashley Cole a likeable player. His greed is well-documented and he’s an utter twat on the pitch as well. Of course, one with an Arsenal upbringing then moving to Chelsea… but never mind.

Last night he committed a ridiculous mistake as he was way too arrogant to look up before sending a pass inside… it was only Kazakhstan, after all. They duly capitalised on that which led to sections of the crowd booing Cole for the rest of the game.

Now this is pathetic. What if it happened in an important World Cup game? What would these do then? I tell you what: it would be David Beckham 1998 all over again, maybe with a little less ferocious hatred as he’s not a United player. But he could expect dartsboards with his face on them etc.

Generally the crowd was very positive but a few showed ignorance and immaturity by getting on Ashley`s back, though many fans were trying to gee him up as well.” – Ferdinand’s opinion.

It’s not like Cole needs much encouragement after such a gaffe, Rio: his ego survived this intact, I’m sure. But still, booing him for one mistake? And then they’re ridiculed when they say they are inhibited by the pressure that’s on their shoulders when playing for the national team, especially at home.
