The latest person to air his views in the Owen Hargreaves-saga is former England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson who believes the Canadian-born midfielder is worth £20M.

Of course, Sven’s credit in England has reached an all-time low after the team’s, to put it mildly, mediocre performance in Germany. And I believe his opinion won’t rush Fergie to splash the cash on Hargreaves but let’s hear what he’s got to say.

‘I always believed he would be a great player and I am very happy for him because now all the biggest clubs in Europe want him.

‘Football can be crazy with transfer prices. But if anyone is worth £20m, then he is.

‘He’s that good and he will get better and better and better so his value could rise – he’s still quite young. People criticised him but I always believed in him.’

At least the last sentence is absolutely true. He never lost faith in Hargreaves, that’s obvious.
