On Sunday, 26th February, the first major trophy of the domestic season will be fought for when, at Wembley Stadium, Manchester United take on Southampton.

Although the kick-off is still some way off, we have managed to cobble together some early team news.

Starting with Manchester United:

Jose Mourinho will not be able to call upon the services of his influential midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the Armenian picked up a hamstring injury in the 1-0 Europa League win over Saint-Etienne on Wednesday evening.

Michael Carrick also picked up an injury in the Europa League tie, a calf injury, but the midfielder, despite there being fears he would miss the final, has been declared fit.

However, with regards to Phil Jones, a late decision will be made as to whether the versatile player is fit enough to be considered for selection.

Continuing with Southampton:

Claude Puel will be hoping that his midfield playmaker Sofiane Boufal will have recovered from an ankle injury to take his place in the starting eleven.

Not available for selection are the following Southampton players – Charlie Austin, Virgil van Dijk, Jeremy Pied, Matt Targett and Alex McCarthy, all have long-term injuries.
