Is Michael Carrick living on borrowed time?

The reason I ask is that one of the leading red-top publications has come out with the implication that Sir Alex Ferguson has decided that Carrick is free to leave this summer.

Apparently, Carrick has eighteen months left on his contract and there are no plans to offer the twenty-none year old a new one. Supposedly, Sir Alex has hit on the idea that his central midfield partnership, as we move forward, will be Darren Fletcher and Anderson.

So far this season, Carrick has started 19 of our 32 games which would indicate Sir Alex does have some faith in him.

What are your views?

Should Carrick be given a new contract or should he be moved on?
