Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed that he would take Dong Fangzhuo to Middlesbrough for the FA Cup 6th round.

United continue their quest for honours on three front. This weekend the FA Cup gets centre stage – and our problems up front.

Saha and Solskjaer is injured so we have only Rooney and Larsson available. Alan Smith played 20 minutes in the victory over Lille on Wednesday and is set to feature again while 22-year-old Chinese striker Dong Fangzhuo will be in the squad for the first time during his United career. The boss praised the youngster’s quickness and athleticism but he’s not likely to be included in the match squad as United will be at full strength.

‘It should be a fantastic Cup tie and we’ll be taking a very strong squad,’ said Fergie. ‘Away games are never easy in the Cup and I don’t expect it to be any different on Saturday.

‘They’ll be positive because they’ve got a home draw and will think they can win. However, there is a great resolve amongst our players, you saw that at Liverpool and at Fulham. There’s no doubt that as the season goes on the team spirit is growing.’

Finally, after years of restricted ticket alloation for away fans, the Reds supporters will be at full strength at the Riverside. Sir Alex praised Middlesbrough for the fight they put up for this.

‘We’ll have a strong support behind us which we’re very pleased about. The council have restricted our support in the past because the fans stand, but I watch games every week and everyone is standing.

‘Middlesbrough have fought hard to get our support increased and credit to them for that. But we ask our fans to respect the stewards at the ground and allow them to go about their job in an easy manner.’
