Manchester United produced a stunning performance to record a 4-2 win in Kyiv, it’s time to analyse the individual contributions.

Edwin van der Sar: Perhaps could have done better with the second goal but overall he was rarely troubled. 6

Wes Brown: His best performance of the season so far. Got forward tremendously and kept Correa quiet. Launched the attack and provided the assist for the second goal. 8

Rio Ferdinand: Not always totally committed in defence but scored the crucial opener early on. 7

Nemanja Vidic: A solid showing at the back, nothing spectacular. 7

John O’Shea: The weakest link. Gusev usually came out on top against him and most of the Ukrainian’s dangerous attacks came from his side. 6

Cristiano Ronaldo: Tore Kyiv apart. They just could not cope with him and his brace was fitting reward for this performance. 9

Darren Fletcher: Solid but unspectacular. Did his job well, rarely conceded possession but he’s not fully comfortable on the pitch following his lenghty injury. 6

Anderson: Superb, yet again. The young Brazilian is showing extraordinary potential and his neat passing and mazy runs created all sorts of problems for the hosts. Even his tackles were well-timed and effective! 8

Ryan Giggs: Two great assists, good passing. He was always available and produced a bit of real Giggs magic before the third United goal. 8

Wayne Rooney: He now scored in six consecutive competitive games – amazing. Linked well with Tevez, Ronaldo and Giggs, created openings for others, too. Should have scored at least another goal. 8

Carlos Tevez: Worked superbly with Rooney, providing another proof that this partnership could achieve great things. Shame he failed to find the net but another good display from the Argentinian. 7

Nani: Looked sharp and dangerous. 6

Tomasz Kuszczak: Some good saves. 6

Danny Simpson: Slotted in at left-back but no real impact with the game wrapped up by the time of his introduction. 5
