With Wayne Rooney having ended the speculation that he could be heading out of the Old Trafford exit to move to China before the Chinese Super League transfer window ends, another piece of transfer gossip relating to the striker has come to light today.

According to the good folk of the Daily Mirror, there was interest in the 31-year-old during the January transfer window, from another Premier League club.

Our referenced source is championing the inference that Ronald Koeman, over at Goodison Park, showed interest in acquiring the services of our all-time record goal-scorer but that the bid submitted was rejected.

Our aforementioned source also goes on to suggest that Everton may try and resurrect a possible deal for the player come the opening of the summer transfer window.

To us, a return to where it all started for the player sounds a far more attractive proposition than a swansong in the Chinese Super League, even if the financial rewards being offered are huge, after all it`s only money isn`t it!
