When Paul Pogba appeared to stamp on the back of Hector Bellerin`s leg, the referee, Andre Marriner, had no hesitation in producing a straight red card.

The red card means that Pogba will now miss the huge Manchester derby, next Sunday, when Manchester City visit Old Trafford.

But was the sending off harsh or did Pogba know exactly what he was doing?

After the dust had settled on a dramatic game, Jose Mourinho had this to say about seeing his influential midfielder dismissed when asked if it was a deserved red card,

“I don`t know. I leave for you that one. I leave for you the Lukaku situation with Koscielny, I leave for you the Arsenal players on the grass. The grass is absolutely beautiful – I think there is a desire to go onto the grass.”

Clearly, Mourinho wasn`t too happy about the injustice of it all.

Jesse Lingard, our two-goal hero, was also asked about the sending off in his post-match interview with the England international remarking,

“It`s a blow but the team have the players to adapt to that. Everyone`s got to work hard to get in the starting XI.”

Yes, we do but Pogba, after being out injured for a sustained period already this season, will be gutted he`s now set for another spell on the side-lines.
