Rumours of a mega-deal for the Argentine player Angel Di Maria continue to generate column inches in the tabloid press.

With it appearing that despite all the speculation that has taken place, a deal is no nearer to being completed, has the Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, opened the door to a last-gasp deadline day deal, a deal similar to when Dimitar Berbatov joined Manchester United from Tottenham?

Speaking about Di Maria, Ancelotti is quoted as having remarked,

“I don`t know what Di Maria has decided. Until August 31, he will be here in principle. If from there he stays, or is no longer with us, we will think about it later.”

“After August 31, everything will be cleared up.”

The problem being, will a late deal increase or dramatically reduce the asking price?
