Rio Ferdinand, Wes Brown and Michael Carrick have all agreed to extend their contract at Manchester United.

It’s been reported earlier that the two defenders were on the verge of agreeing new deals but we heard little about Carrick’s situation. Fortunately, all agreed to sign extensions which is great news for the club.

The exact length of the contracts have not been disclosed but it is understood that all three are long-term deals and in the case of Brown and Rio, they expect to finish their career at United.

‘There’s no other club for Wes Brown,’ Sir Alex said.

‘He’s a Manchester United player. We were always quietly confident he would sign.’

Still he was the most doubtful of the three, with the prospect of a Bosman move at the end of the season. Though I criticised Brown often, I recognise what a splendid job he’s done this season and I’m happy he chose to stay.
