If the Manchester United faithful were hoping that David de Gea would, on the back of recent speculation again linking him with a move to Real Madrid, quash those rumours they might be feeling a little disappointed today.

Emerging in the media is an article that contains an interview with the goalkeeper, an interview conducted by the AS Premier League correspondent, Edu F. Abascal.

The interview, published by en.as, carries two questions relating to his future at Old Trafford.

The first of these questions asks how he sees his future at Manchester United with de Gea replying,

“The future nobody knows. The future is the future. I’m very happy here, it’s a great club. In England, football is enjoyed a lot.”

As for the second question, it relates to the possibility of Real Madrid resuming their interest in the player this summer, prompting de Gea to respond with,

“I`m not going to talk about that. I’m not going to talk about that subject now. I just have to keep focused on my club.”

A blunt and frank denial would have been the answer we`d have been looking for!
