The latest instalment in the on-going saga as to whether David De Gea will remain a Manchester United player or will leave this summer has thrown up something of a twist.

With Real Madrid being the only destination likely to tempt De Gea to turn down flat the reported £200,000 a week, five year deal the young Spaniard has been offered; it appears the La Liga giants have given De Gea an ultimatum.

It seems that Real Madrid are unwilling to wait another season for the 24-year-old and have decided that if he doesn`t join them this summer the offer will vanish and that they`ll start to look elsewhere.

Also, it would appear that De Gear has a degree of reluctance to make the move fearing that he may have to play second fiddle to Iker Casillas for a season or two.

Could Real`s ultimatum make a difference either way as to the future of De Gea or is it all hot-air?
