If you believe the press and particularly that of the tabloid variety, Manchester United are not having much success when it comes to purchasing a central defender.

With it being widely recognised that the heart of our defence is an area that needs attention this summer!

Already, it would appear, United have run into a brick wall when it comes to bringing the Borussia Dortmund centre-back, Mats Hummels, to Old Trafford with the player citing a lack of urgency from United saw him take the decision to remain at the Bundesliga club.

Now, if you read between the lines, we`ve been looking to lure the Brazilian defender Dante to the Premier League. But it is now being reported that the 31-year-old, who currently plays for the Bavarian giants, Bayern Munich, has decided that his career would be better served by remaining in Munich where he stands more chances of winning silverware.

That is his view we must stress, but what are your feelings about Dante, is he too old, good enough or someone we may regret not spending more time chasing?

Or should we go back in for Mats Hummels?
