If, as so many pieces of speculation has suggested is the case, Manchester United do really have desires relating to Jose Mourinho succeeding Louis van Gaal, then the ante might about to be upped.

Over the weekend, after Paris Saint-Germain had been knocked out of the Champions League by our neighbours, Manchester City, the inference was that the PSG manager, Laurent Blanc, someone who as ties to Old Trafford, could be set to be axed.

Naturally, being out of work, Jose Mourinho was linked with any vacancy that might arise at the Parisian club.

Now, initially, reports appearing in the press, reports we commented on, suggested that Jose Mourinho wasn`t too endeared by the prospect of taking over at the La Ligue club.

However, in the Independent this morning, the subject has reared its head again with it being suggested that Paris Saint-Germain have contacted the Portuguese Special One about a possible appointment.

Perhaps, if Jose is the Special One for Old Trafford this persistence by Paris Saint-Germain might force the issue.

As usual, we can only wait and see.
