It looks fairly certain that come the closure of the transfer window, at 23:00 hours Monday evening, Tom Cleverley will be an Aston Villa player.

With no apparent future at Old Trafford it would appear only the manner of the deal needs to be finalised.

Cleverley, now in the last year of his contract, appears to have been persuaded by Roy Keane that he can kick-start his Premier League career again at Villa Park.

We understand that United want a permanent deal for the player with a fee of £10 million be quoted. However, Cleverley, so it is being reported, wouldn`t be too worried if a season long loan deal could be sorted thereby leaving Cleverley with the option of being a free agent next summer.

But, if United were to allow the latter then they would get no fee for the player next summer. We expect United to hang on for a permanent deal which could see the transfer go right down to the wire.
