Having beaten Everton in the FA Cup semi-final, last Saturday, at Wembley Stadium, Manchester United will, as we`re all aware, face Crystal Palace in the 2016 A Cup Final.

The final presents Louis van Gaal and his squad with a great opportunity to win the first piece of silverware since Sir Alex Ferguson decided enough was enough and opted to retire.

However, it`d be foolish to count our chickens before they`re hatched, Crystal Palace will provide stiff opposition and with the FA Cup being a great leveller, both sides will fancy their chances of lifting the famous old trophy on May 21st.

Today, it is being suggested by Sky Sports that the Football Association has chosen Mark Clattenburg as the referee for this prestigious fixture.

Clattenburg`s stock has risen dramatically in recent times and it was Mark who took charge of the first leg of the Champions League semi-final between Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich last night.

Hopefully the FA Cup Final will be a fixture that is remembered for the football that is played rather than Mark Clattenburg having to impose himself on proceedings and restore a sense of normality to the game.
