It was good to get straight back into the groove in the Champions League last night, against the Swiss side Basel.

A comfortable 3-0 win gives Manchester United a sound base from which to base their campaign to reach the knock-out stages.

After the fine win we took time out to cobble together a few fascinating facts you may find interesting;

1 – The win ensured that Manchester United have gone a whole year without being beaten at Old Trafford. United have played 32 games, won 21 and drawn 10.

2 – The unbeaten run mentioned above is Manchester United longest unbeaten run at home since they went 37 games unbeaten back in October 2011.

3 – When Marouane Fellaini scored it meant it was the 100th goal scored by a Belgian in the Champions League.

4 – The goal was also Fellaini`s 50th in English football, with the player having scored 33 for Everton and 17 for Manchester United.

5 – In scoring the second goal, Romelu Lukaku became the 13th player to score on their Champions League debut for Manchester United.

6 – With Lukaku and Fellaini getting on to the score-sheet, they became the first two Belgian`s to score in the same Champions League game since 23 October 2002 when Club Brugge played Galatasaray.

7 – Marcus Rashford, in netting the third goal, became the 4th English teenager to score in a Champions League fixture following in the footsteps of David Beckham, Phil Jones and Wayne Rooney.
