Once again the future of our midfielder, Michael Carrick, has gotten a mention in the media.

Yesterday the inference was that Carrick was wanted by West Ham United, a club where he has previously spent time.

The speculation will, we feel, continue to mount as long as there are no on-going contract talks between Carrick and those responsible for such things at Old Trafford.

Today the inference is, courtesy of the Daily Express, the 34-year-old who still finds himself in the Manchester United starting eleven on a regular basis, is wanted by Everton.

Carrick`s current deal expires in just over a month and if he is to be given another 12-month contract the ball will need to start rolling soon.

Otherwise we could see Michael Carrick become another who has trodden the familiar route that links Old Trafford and Goodison Park.
