Carrick feels he’s a better player than a year before and is now ready to take part in an FA Cup Final.

It’s fair to say that Carrick’s move turned out to be a pretty good one for all parties concerned. Tottenham’s got good money, we’ve got a very good midfielder and the guy himself won a league title in his first season at us.

He’s now preparing for an FA Cup Final against the second best team in the land nad his focus is only on winning.

‘Sometimes finals are exciting, on other occasions they are not,’ he said.

‘Being back at Wembley does give the match a bit of extra spice, but we are not interested in going there and losing.

‘As long as we are lifting that trophy at the end I am not too bothered whether it is a good game or not.’

League titles and cup finals are not regular feats at Spurs (not to mention Champions League semi-finals – no offense guys, really) so it’s not a big surprise that Carrick feels he’s become a better player during this season.

‘I would say I am a better player now than I was last year,’ he said.

‘Winning the league is the best thing I have ever done. I played in most of the games as well, so it was a big achievement for me.’
