Recently, Michael Carrick has been conspicuous by his absence when it comes to featuring for Manchester United.

The club captain hasn`t played for Manchester United since being involved in the League Cup tie against Burton Albion, on 20 September.

It turns out that the reason for Carrick`s absence has been an irregular heartbeat that required corrective action.

Talking about his problem, Carrick is quoted in The Sun as having remarked,

“I want to clear up my situation as I`ve had a few people asking if I`m okay and why I haven`t been fit over the last couple of months.

“After feeling strange during the second half of the Burton game in September I underwent a series of tests.

“It turned out to be due to an irregular heart rhythm which has been fully investigated and I had a procedure called a cardiac ablation.

“I had to build up my training steadily whilst being monitored closely but I feel fine now.

“I`m building up my fitness and aiming to be back in contention for selection soon. Thanks for your support.”

News that shocked us but glad to hear that the midfielder is on the mend.
