On quite a few occasions we may have mentioned that there has been no new contract on the table, as of yet, for Michael Carrick.

With the 34-year-old`s contract running out at the end of the current season, the press has been alive with speculation that the experienced midfielder could be set to leave Old Trafford with destinations such as Everton, Newcastle United and West Ham United having been mentioned.

However, appearing in The Sun this morning is the inference that the midfielder has been told by one prominent board member, at Old Trafford, there is a new deal ready for him to sign.

But, the insinuation is given that any deal must wait until the manager`s position is clarified. Which, to us; suggests that it is another broad hint that Louis van Gaal could be on his way this summer.

Or am I just reading too much between the lines?
