This Manucho guy. You had never heard of him before news came through we signed, had you? Neither had I. But he’s been a revelation so far since I’m monitoring his performance.

The 24-year-old Angola forward has an abundance of qualities it seems. Whilst it might seem a little premature to announce he will be a great player at Old Trafford, the ingredients are all there to do a very good job for us.

His acrobatic headed goal against South Africa was the first glimpse we got but he was largely isolated afterwards as Bafana Bafana dominated the match. However, nobody in the current United squad could have headed that goal, as simple as that.

Fast forward to today. Senegal took on Angola and I’ve just finished watching the highlights. Oh my god. Yet another brilliant header. Fine movement, he’s moving with a grace, it’s good to watch. He’s not particularly fast but has a good acceleration and predatory instincts as he twice demonstrated, helping Angola to turn the game on its head against overwhelming favourites Senegal.

I like what I see about this guy. He gives us a plan B in attack what we’ve been sadly lacking so far. A predator with serious aerial menace, we simply do not have that. And he’s got the skill and mobility to trouble defences. I repeat, I do not say he’s bound to be a success – but his performances so far justify why Fergie decided to sign him. Fingers crossed for that work permit.
