Could there be a dramatic change of tact on the horizon at Old Trafford?

With the future of Louis van Gaal (I seem to write that almost on a daily basis now) under threat, the general consensus of opinion amongst the press hacks is that Jose Mourinho will fly to our rescue thereby getting the one-job he hasn`t had that he still craves for.

However, the good folk of the Sun are suggesting different.

Today, just about edging on to their back page, is the suggestion that Manchester United might be considering offering any future vacant managerial role to somebody else.

Our source is intimating that the former Manchester United centre-back and current manager of the French club, Paris Saint-Germain, Laurent Blanc, could be in the frame.

It is being suggested that some of the Old Trafford board have issues with Mourinho taking over with regards to the Portuguese Special One bringing in his own backroom staff and jettisoning Ryan Giggs.

It`s a sentiment we share as well but then again, whatever happened to the suggestion that Ryan Giggs was being groomed to take over wen Louis van Gaal called it a day?
