United waved goodbye to Tyler Blackett this week, unlike last season when he had a season-long loan with Celtic, he’ll not return as he’s joined Reading on a permanent basis.

Blackett has been with United since he was eight but with him unlikely to have a future at the club under Jose Mourinho having made the last of his six league appearances in the 2014-15 season his only return to Old Trafford will be as an opposing player.

An undisclosed fee has taken the 22-year-old to Reading on a three-year deal when we links up with former United defender Jaap Stam, the Royals boss told the clubs official website.

‘As we know, Tyler is a talented defender who has played for United’s first team. He can play as a left-back or a left-sided centre-back; he has got great potential in the sense that he is quick and athletic, defensively he is strong and he is good at set-pieces. As a defender he can go and play high up the pitch as well, and that is what we need in the squad.’

Good luck to Blackett at the Madejski Stadium.
