With the future of our Spanish international keeper, David de Gea, looking more uncertain by the day, there has been an increasing amount of speculation, in the media, where the journalists have been linking Manchester United with possible replacements.

Following the developing scenario, here at Vital Manchester United, we’ve done our best to try and keep abreast of the situation, Click Here.

But, with it being reported by one source, the Sun, that de Gea has no intention of signing a new contract, perhaps another source, the Daily Mail, is reporting that Manchester United have no intention of spending big money to replace de Gea if he does leave Old Trafford this summer.

Instead, it appears common sense is set to prevail and that United will be looking to promote Sergio Romero to being top dog when it comes to the place between the sticks.

The 32-year-old Argentine international is well-respected and perhaps now is the time to reward his patience with the golden opportunity to show he can step into the boots vacated by de Gea.

My view is that bringing in somebody else, somebody who might not be proven in the Premier League is a huge risk, surely a case of better the devil you know!
