With all the talk re-emerging that Real Madrid are set to make another audacious attempt to sign David de Gea this summer, with the Spanish club ready to offer a fee said to be around the £60 million mark for the 26-year-old keeper, an interesting train of thought has emerged.

It has come via the media vehicle Talksport who, talking to somebody who has connections with Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson`s former assistant Rene Meulensteen, came up with the summarisation that if Real Madrid want David de Gea and the keeper wants to move, then Manchester United should ask for Gareth Bale to make the move in the opposite direction.

It`s a thought but I`m not sure one Real Madrid would entertain unless they were really desperate to get their hands on De Gea.

What`s your opinion on the above subject matter?
