It is looking like desperate measures are now being talked about when it comes to trying to keep David De Gea at Old Trafford.

It is almost as if those who conduct contract matters are resigned to the 24-year-old goalkeeper leaving.

The latest suggestion doing the tabloid rounds in relation to the subject, implies that United have asked De Gea what else they can do to keep him.

Rumours of a four year contract, being worth a cool £250,000 a week, being on the table, allied with a clause whereby De Gea can move on after two years, for a relatively cheap price, are gathering momentum.

There`s also the suggestion doing the rounds that De Gea`s apparent desire to return to Spain is fired by his girlfriend`s dislike of life in Manchester.

Personally, having spoken about my own fears about De Gea leaving for the past couple of months, I`m preparing to admit there`s little or no chance of De Gea being at Old Trafford next season!
