Yesterday we ran an article that included comments from the Southampton defender, Jose Fonte, about an apparent interest in him from Manchester United.

Fonte, part of the Portuguese side that won the recent final of the Euro 2016 competition, suggested that he was most pleased Manchester United rated him.

Today, with Manchester United, under Jose Mourinho, seemingly intent on adding a centre-back to their squad, the local news vehicle the Manchester Evening News, Click Here, has carried the torch a little further suggesting that Manchester United could well move to seal a deal for the player before the transfer window slams shut at the end of this month.

But, I can`t help wondering, at 32-years-of-age whether the signing of Fonte might be considered a risk.

As far as I can recall Old Trafford policy is to give one-year contracts to those who are over thirty years of age.

But what are your views on the above subject matter?

Here at Vital Manchester United we`d be delighted to read your opinions in our comments facility.
