When Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived at United, to once again work with Jose Mourinho after doing so at Inter Milan in the past, he made it clear he felt he had another two or three-years left in him.

Ibrahimovic might have only signed a one-year deal with United but Mourinho is of the same opinion, well the opinion he’s got another year in him at least after this season.

Having proven himself at Ajax, AC Milan, Inter, Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain the Swede came to United this summer and Ibrahimovic already looks at home in the Premier League, albeit with only one-match played!

Mourinho, quoted by the Manchester Evening News, has commented on Ibrahimovic ahead of the match against Southampton on Friday with him sure the 34-year-old is motivated enough to continue for at least one more year.

‘I see him happy. I ask about his family, his wife, his kids – I know how important these things are to him – integration, house and everything is fine and everybody is happy. He has a very high motivation, so I see him here, no doubts, for the next two years.’

In his two competitive appearances for United so far he’s scored, having got the winner against Leicester in the Community Shield and then scored against Bournemouth in our opening Premier League win on Sunday.

Not only could it be two-years at United a third wasn’t being ruled out but we’ll have to see what the future bring, Mourinho added.

‘Let’s see what happens. You never know. It could be more than two (years), it could be more than three, let’s see how long I feel like I can perform. I will not be somewhere only because I am Ibrahimovic. I will be somewhere because I can perform and bring results. It’s about coming and winning and making Manchester United shine again.’
