As we prepare to commence another Champions League campaign, the emphasis is on making sure that we don`t suffer a repeat of last season whereby we crashed out of the competition in the group stages.

You get the feeling that Sir Alex Ferguson is determined to ensure that, having made the final the last time it was at Wembley (two years ago), he`d like to see his United side grace the final again.

Anders Lindegaard, who has seemingly overtaken David De Gea as the first choice keeper for Sir Alex, has his own views on the task ahead, remarking,

“We have to do better. Anything else will be very disappointing, as it was last season. I think we got too careless.”

“In a couple of games, especially against Basel at home when we only drew after being 2-0 in front, it was very annoying for the rest of us.”

“We cannot afford to do that again this season.”

“No matter who you are playing in the Champions League, it is a very special kind of football.”

“The team you are playing are the champions or among the top three in their respective countries and we have to take every assignment very seriously.”

Which is why I`d be amazed if Sir Alex chose to field anything other than his strongest team against Galatasaray on Wednesday evening.
