Chelsea winning the Champions League isn`t what we really wanted.

Although in a way I don`t begrudge them their success, the reality is that their first Champions League success elevates them to another level.

Finishing sixth and not being in the Champions League next season would have opened the way up for ourselves and City to dominate the top end of the transfer market as was about to be proven with Eden Hazard admitting he`d be playing for a Manchester club next season, albeit the comments being spoilt with a reference to a blue shirt.

But now Chelsea`s status of not only being in the Champions League but being the holders has given them undisputable leverage when it comes to transfers. Assisted by the huge amount of revenue the win has brought them, we now discover that Eden Hazard has suddenly developed an interest in a move to London.

Suffice to say that it`s not only Spurs who looked to have been affected by a Champions League victory from a squad that our own Sir Alex Ferguson deemed as being an ageing squad!
